Hi, I am Julie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in couples & marriage. My goal is to help couples achieve a secure connection and heal from old wounds that may be impacting their relationship satisfaction. I help couples with a variety of concerns including sexual issues, infidelity, communication struggles, emotional closeness and intimacy.

I believe in an attachment model to understanding relationships: that we either learned connection was safe and comforting or we learned it was not. These early messages about safety in relationships have a meaningful impact what happens when we try to be close to others. Understanding your beliefs about connection, safety and yourself are central to the work we will do together.

A little more about me:

  • I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
  • I have earned the Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC #C-03542) from the Michigan Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (MCBAP).
  • I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC #695594).
  • I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist.
  • I am a trained EFT Therapist.
  • I am a Level 2 Gottman Couples Counselor.
  • I am an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist.
  • I am a trained Discernment Counselor.
  • I am trained in IFS/IFIO Therapy.
  • I am a counseling supervisor, meaning I train counseling students and limited licensed professionals.
  • I am a professional member of the American Counseling Association (#6329462), the Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association (MMHCA), the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT #1403930), The EMDR International Association (EMDRIA #100111463) and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES).

I look forward to working with you and your partner on creating a healthy, satisfying and passionate relationship.
